February Case Highlight

Case Highlight: For this month, we’ll be looking at a dog bite case involving a young child where we fought hard and secured a meaningful result for his future.

Being in the back of an ambulance can be some of the scariest and most vulnerable moments of an individual’s life. That traumatic experience is compounded when the victim is young, and the scene they are being rushed away from was supposed to be somewhere safe. This unfortunate scenario described above is exactly what happened in the case of our minor client.

On a night like any other, our 5 year-old client was over his neighbor’s house for dinner. Suddenly, without warning or provocation, he was bit in the face by his neighbor’s husky-type dog. In the blink of an eye, our client’s life was forever altered. He suffered deep lacerations to his cheek and under his chin, both of which required immediate medical attention. Beyond the scars our client will now carry with him for the rest of his life, he’ll also have to endure social anxiety around large dogs and potential embarrassment over his unsightly facial disfigurement.

Prior to filing suit, the best offer we received from the insurance company for the dog owner was $35,000. This was not a number we were remotely satisfied with. After all, the course of our client’s life was forever changed that night. After filing suit and pursuing litigation, we were able to settle for $375,000 – more than 10 times their max pre-suit offer!

This is a classic example of the high standard we hold ourselves to at Femminineo Law. We know you and what you went through. We would never let an insulting lowball offer get between our clients and the compensation they so deeply deserve.
