November Case Highlight

A bad car accident can leave you helpless – and that’s when you’re inside a car. Without the protection of airbags, seatbelts, and crumple zones, the damage a car accident can cause is almost unimaginable. This extremely unfortunate scenario – getting hit as a walking pedestrian – is exactly what happened in the case of one of our clients, a retired Warren police officer.

After getting the white cross-walk indicator on the corner of Pointe Tremble Dr and State Street in St. Clair county, our client was swiftly struck by a 16 year-old driver making a left hand turn. She was left with compound fractures to her arm, multiple fractures to her pelvic area, a fracture to her eye socket, a fracture to her cheek, PTSD, depression, anxiety, ringing ears, loss of balance, loss of range of motion, and prolonged incontinence – all of which she never previously experienced. Needless to say, her world was turned on its head.

After reviewing the details of the accident, we decided to file a lawsuit against both the at-fault driver’s insurance, as well as our client’s own insurance for what is known as underinsured motorist coverage. We received firm pushback from the defense every step of the way, but we never stood down. In the end, we were able to get the at-fault driver’s insurance to tender their policy limit of $250,000 and pursued an additional $250,000 from our client’s insurance – totalling over $500,000 recovered for our client!

This case is a shining example of our tireless work-ethic and relentless commitment to our clients’ recovery and success.
